Lithuania confirms first coronavirus infection

first_imgLithuania reported its first coronavirus infection on Friday, in a woman who returned this week from a visit to Italy’s northern city of Verona, the government said, as the disease spreads rapidly worldwide.Hopes that the virus would be contained to China vanished, with countries beginning to stockpile medical equipment and investors taking flight in expectation of a global recession.In a statement, the Lithuanian government said the woman had been isolated in hospital in the northern town of Siauliai following her return on Monday.She has been under observation since, and is showing only slight symptoms, with no elevated temperature at the moment, it added. Topics :last_img read more

With home advantage many fancied St Eunan’s to edge out Naomh Conaill as they bid to retain their Donegal SFC title.However, Martin Regan’s side had other ideas and they’ve sent out a real warning to all the other sides who have ambitions of lifting the Dr Maguire.Naomh Conaill got off to a flyer and got two quick scores from Leon Thompson and Brendan McDyer settled the visitors down.Then they netted a crucial goal, Brendan McDyer sent a long ball inside and Thompsn got on the end of it and finished superbly. The goal stunned the hosts and they struggled to make any inroads into the Naomh Conaill defence.John O’Malley, Darragh Gallagher and McDyer all added points while Eunan’s could only muster one more score.Half-time score: St Eunan’s 0-02 Naomh Conaill 1-05 Maxi Curran would have been unhappy at half-time but he would have told his team to make sure they got off to a good start in the second-half.However, they did the opposite, Naomh Conaill scored another goal almost from the restart.It was Brendan McDyer who netted and there was no way back for St Eunan’s after that. Seamus Corcoran, Cathal Ellis and a brace of points from Leon Thompson cemented their advantage.St Eunan’s were battling valiantly to get back into the game but Naomh Conaill were just too good for their hosts.St Eunan’s added six points in the second-half but never got the goals they craved that would have got them back in the clash.In the end Naomh Conaill ran out TEN point winners in what was a superb display from Martin Regan’s side.
