The Louisville track says it administered 1,823 tests to staff, horsemen and vendors from Aug. 19-24. From that group, there were 47 positive tests for a positivity rate of 2.58%.The track requires any individual allowed entrance to the stable area to take a COVID-19 test. Those who don’t pass the test or medical screening are denied entry and asked to isolate or quarantine.___Vanderbilt’s football team is back at practice after a coronavirus-caused stoppage, and coach Derek Mason says a couple of players remain in quarantine.Mason says the team had to stop practicing because a couple of Commodores tested positive for COVID-19. Vanderbilt canceled a practice Friday and wound up missing two practices before resuming work on the field Wednesday. The team recently presented its “Responsible Restart Plan” to the city and Ohio state health departments and is awaiting approval.
Defensive end Trevon Trejo gave his verbal commitment to Syracuse on Sunday, according to Scout.com. His commitment comes one day after the Orange received one from offensive lineman John Miller.The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Trejo, who’s from Long Beach, Calif., played two seasons at Golden West College. Along with Miller, Trejo visited Syracuse last weekend. Trejo made 18 total tackles in nine games this season, and he finished up with three sacks.Trejo is the 11th member of the class of 2013 to commit to Syracuse.The Orange’s defensive line performed well for much of the season. Syracuse finished fifth in the Big East in rushing defense. Defensive end Brandon Sharpe is the only member of the defensive line the Orange will lose to graduation.
